We joined hands with Muthuthamby Maha Vidyalayam in Thirunelveli, Jaffna to educate students on organic agriculture and sustainability. The first phase of the project involved constructing a small compost pit within school premises and educating students to collect and compost degradable materials accumulated within the school grounds and surroundings such as fallen leaves. The compost pit was handed over to the school principal in 2019, completing phase one.
Following the success of phase one, we organised a shramadanam event at the school to clean a designated area of the school garden and to promote proper waste management, with students, teachers and the hotel staff taking part in the event. We also provided the school with labelled garbage bins to collect and separate organic, plastic, paper, and metal/glass for proper disposal.
